The Skinner’s family have been milling at Stradbroke in Suffolk since 1688
Today we make a range of excellent foods for working dogs, whatever their age, breed or condition.
Much has changed since it all began, the mill has long since gone to be replaced by the very latest state-of-the-art equipment, but the same family passion still continues today.
Our Field & Trial range has been developing since the early 1970s, when it all began with just two products. As our reputation grew and customers demanded different diets to suit their working dogs’ needs, so the range has expanded.

Field & Trial diets for puppiesIn their first few months, puppies need all the right nutrients to develop strong bones and teeth, making sure they grow into healthy, hard working adults. Our range of Field & Trial puppy foods are specifically formulated to meet all the nutritional requirements of working puppies during these first and most crucial stages of development. By feeding Field & Trial Puppy foods from weaning up to approximately nine months of age, you will ensure that your puppy receives all the proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and oils which are essential for steady growth. Field & Trial Puppy foods are wheat gluten free. They also contain MOS (Mannan Oligosaccharide), a natural digestion enhancer derived from vegetable sources, to help maintain a healthy digestive system. Field & Trial Puppy Duck & Rice also includes marine algae providing enhanced levels of DHA Omega-3 which provides many natural health benefits including the support of brain and eye development and cognitive function. |

My bulldog puppy loves this food, the smaller bags are a little on the expensive side however if you can get the larger bags they are EXCELLENT value for money, good quality ingredients…. Much better than some dry food brands and my puppy seems to be thriving on it.

Our Irish setter puppy loves skinners. It does wonders for her sensitive stomach and her coat is so shiny!!! We’ve used field and trial working dog food for over 20 years on cockers and setters. (All family pets but very active dogs). Birdie our pup loves both duck and lamb biscuits. Our vet told us she doesn’t need specifically hypoallergenic food but this is what suits her so I’m sticking to it for now.

Our 8 week old Golden Retriever gradually switched to this over a few days from a different brand that the breeder was feeding him. Everything seems good – his coat is gloriously soft, he wolfs the food like nobodies business and has lots of energy to play! That said, at night he goes to bed around 9:30pm and sleeps through the night until around 6-7am which is ideal, so he clearly doesn’t have too much energy. His poos were a little soft whilst switching foods but that’s completely normal.Best thing is the size of the bag is absolutely huge – it will last us ages, you just need to have somewhere to store it that your dog can’t get into!

Very popular with my border collie. He had previously been getting Carnilove , and he seemed to calm down a bit with the Skinners and his stools firmed up….makes life easier with the dog bag. A good medium feed , not to rich in protein, something though good for a growing pup can contribute to them being over active. So ..a good feed and as far as I know the protein in it does not come from road kill or out of date supermarket meats , def much healthier than another well advertised brand that starts with a B. so yes I would recommend it.
