Why should I look after my pet’s teeth, and what is ProDen PlaqueOff?

Did you know that over 70% of cats and 85% of dogs over the age of 3 years show signs of poor oral hygiene? It is vital to look after your pets oral health, as it can have a negative impact on other parts of the body. Oral infections can result in pain, tooth loss & can spread to vital organs if left untreated potentially causing organ failure. Fear not, there are plenty of things you can do to help improve & prevent oral hygiene becoming a problem. Plaque and tartar are two different things. Plaque is a clear, sticky substance that starts building up on teeth as soon as your pet has eaten. Once this has been left for a significant amount of time, this starts to calcify into tartar or the brown deposits you see on teeth.

ProDen PlaqueOff helps both cats & dogs oral hygiene including bad breath, plaque & tartar. ProDen PlaqueOff works with the animal’s body, dissolving existing tartar and prevents new build-up of dental plaque and tartar. With its different application methods, from powder sprinkled on the food to bites and bones, it offers flexibility and easy use.

ProDen PlaqueOff is evidence based – not only do we have clinical trials to support our products, but ProDen PlaqueOff Powder and ProDen PlaqueOff Dental Bites carry the Veterinary Oral Health Council Seal of Acceptance.

How does ProDen PlaqueOff Cat Powder work?

ProDen PlaqueOff Cat Powder works systemically. Simply add to food daily, once it is ingested it begins to work its way out into the saliva which coats all of the teeth. This slowly begins to soften the plaque and tartar build up making it change texture, to a softer, gloopier texture. This can then be removed either through chewing or brushing. Unlike the original ProDen PlaqueOff Powder, our cat variety includes Brewer’s Yeast to entice fussy cats.

Simply add the 100% natural supplement to food daily. Each tub contains a 330mg scoop, so add to dry kibble, raw or wet food everyday.

Results are usually seen in 3 – 8 weeks of daily use.

Results can vary as it is a natural product, but most owners comment on improvements in breath quality, and with continued use it can help to change the texture of deposits (plaque & tartar) making it easier to remove through brushing, chewing or scraping away.

  1. Cat LoverCat Lover

I had bought the ProDen Plaque treats first to see if my kitty would like the taste of it. She ate them just fine and because they went rather quickly and it was unnecessary calories. I decided to buy the ProDen powder for topping her food.Unlike other plaque powders available this is rather fine powder and not minty. Not a course herb like substance. So it just mixes really well in her food. Dry &wet or just dry. It has an easy little scoop for sprinkling it on.The vet wants me to brush her teeth 3 times a week coz she has mild gingivitis at 3 years old, but she will not let me near her mouth. I’m not holding her down and forcing it either because that’s very stressful , for both of us. Totally not fair on her. I want her to enjoy her life, not worry daily if I’m gonna hold her down and force unnatural cat toothpaste in her little mouth. He said use Dentisept, which is sticky minty glue like stuff that is supposed to clean her mouth out. Yuck and noway.I had to come up with a compromise fast. This ProDen Seaweed/kelp powder is definitely worth buying. Trixies vet appointment is in 3 months to recheck the red spots on her gums. The vet will decide if surgery is required. I’m scared she might lose teeth and/or is in pain bless her.I use Silverline sticks for her to chew on. She has cat grass for munching and recently I bought some food toppers, with freeze dried quail, salmon, chicken, minnows, chicken hearts. Bone broth. Sardine/anchovy Omega Oils and a multi vitamin paste. Lots of different textures….which she loves to chew on! Freeze dried food toppers or treats can be expensive but so worth it. Super healthy and great for their little bodies! Plus she has new rubber toys and balls that she fetches with. Although these different supplements and freeze dried raw toppers can be expensive, they all last ages and I for one want the best for my cat, she doesn’t ask for much, the least I can do is buy her good food and make sure she is eating the healthiest yummy stuff! TikTok ‘Feed my cat with me’ videos opened my eyes to the fact that I could go better than putting a bowl of dry food down and that’s it. Not fair on my BFF!I sure hope all these things work and she can avoid surgery! This powder does the most for her mouth health imo. It’s vet recommended and even though she is VERY fussy. She doesn’t mind this powder at all. It’s not minty and just smells like treats tbh. It’s not an over powering smell, which is why I think she tolerates/likes it.You only need one scoop on breakfast or dinner. Every other day is also ok. It gets in their system. Then basically (very basic) the plaque won’t stick to the teeth but their saliva and what they eat will break/clean it away. Which is why I’ve been giving her lots of different textured treats/toppers/toys…This jar will last 3 months. Even though it seems like a small container. It’s worth every penny of £12 if it saves Trixie from surgery. Also saves me from atleast a £600 dental bill!!!I’ll do anything to help Trixie, but I won’t hold her down and force her to do anything if it isn’t a matter of life or death. Ya know…. Give it a try. It’s a good start!!!Freeze dried quail from. furmily .com is a BIG hit , even with extremely fussy cats. They are super crunchy and work great with this stuff. A little gross having a (tiny) baby freeze dried bird, head, feet, beak, and all ….but it’s the closest to prey you can give them safely!!! Great for their teeth!!! Even if you decide not to buy the ProDen seaweed/kelp supplement!UPDATE: We went to the vet! Trixie doesn’t require surgery and her gingivitis/plaque has not got any worse. She only has one red spot on her very back gumline. The vet said to keep her on this ProDen but not to give too much. One scoop, Once a day. Whoop, I’m so happy for Trixie. She had dental surgery when she was 1 because I was giving her those licky lick treats, the creamy ones. They are full of sugar and I didn’t realise how much damage they were doing. Since she’s been on this new, rather expensive diet…no more surgery!! Totally worth the extra money buying this powder.Sorry to drone on. I just want to try and help. Even one kitty from ending up having dental surgery is a win in my book.

Improved cat breath and hopefully our cats’ teeth ! Best to mix the powder with half the food served in the bowl, and leave the rest without powder, with some biscuits on top of the food with the powder. Both cats fussy eaters and initially were slow eating the mixed food, however after day 1, both now eat their breakfast meal which the powder is added to, without any delay!! 🙂 Lasts ages. Miaoww!

  3. Gill

Vet recommended using this but it has been a bit difficult to get hold of. Just add it to the cats food daily. Vet says the cats teeth look good for their age so hopefully it will work out to be money well spent in the long run.

  4. Liliana

My vet informed me that sadly my cat has dental difficulties and these will, be costly in the future.Started using this and it has improved it so much!Vet did not recommend this product but when shown, they did say it was quite good and that i can continue using it as it seems to be helping.Although it wont erase your future problems it does make it wayyyyy easier to manage plaque, if you use this and brush your cats teeth it will help your furry friend so much :)I put it on dry food so its not as noticeable, my cat doesn’t mind the taste this way 🙂

  5. Bainey

Bought this to start adding to my 1 year olds meals once a day. His teeth are perfectly fine but since he is on a moisture rich fresh meat diet, I just wanted to incorporate this into our daily routine to prevent any possible plaque buildup in the future. It took a few days to get him to eat his food with this stuff sprinkled on top, I found adding some freeze-dried chicken sprinkles on top helped coax him until he got used to it.Whether or not this stuff really works, I won’t know until later down the line since I’m using it as a preventative measure, but I’m optimistic and have heard good things from others that have used this AFTER their cat developed dental issues 🙂

Have noticed a real difference to our cats should mean less vet fees!

My vet told me that my cats had mild gingivitis, and that I need to start brushing their teeth. My first port of call was to buy some of those “denta-treats”, but my cats are the most greediest cats in existence, so they inhaled them and didn’t chew them at all, so quickly gave up on them.My second port of call was to buy a cat toothbrush and toothpaste, and if your cats are anything like mine, you can guess how that went down…After searching for vet approved products, I stumbled upon this gem. I have used this product on and off for about a year now, and after the first few attempts of using it for a few weeks, I thought it wasn’t improving the plaque on their teeth, so stopped using it. However, a few months ago, I recently got another cat (totalling to three cats!), and her breath was the most absolute vile thing to ever exist – you could smell her breath whilst she was grooming herself in the same room! I decided to give this another shot, and have been religiously using it every day on all of my cats for 2 months now, and it actually does eventually work a treat! Before writing this review I gave my two most stinkiest-breath cats mouths both a whiff, and though still not pleasant, it’s definitely better than before and can only be smelt when you’re near their mouth.I’ve noticed the two cats which chew/bite their toys a lot it’s been the most effective on, as the plaque on their teeth has gone down drastically. However, the cat which doesn’t seem to chew toys a lot, I have noticed little difference on his teeth. Saying this, he has always been the least stinkiest breath cat, so I am only going off of visuals, but there does seem to be still a lot of plaque on his teeth. It does state on the product that this loosens plaque, rather than removes it, so it does make sense that it isn’t that effective on the other cat. I’m currently looking into buying some large crunchy stuff for cats to eat, and after looking at a review on here it has recommended some freeze dried quail eggs (from furmily.com) to combine this with, so I am going to give that a shot and see if it works.TLDR: Needs to be used consistently every day for 2-3 months to see improvements in breath and plaque and to buy your cats a toy to chew on for best results!

  9. Mgallard

Quick and efficient service. Had to chase the cats around with their dinner the first time as they didn’t like the smell. So had a fun factor as well as a serious use.

  10. Donna

My cat was put off her food at 1st, but a day or 2 later back to normal. Seems to be doing the job. Not been the required 3 months yet to see if it’s making a difference, but I am hopeful. This was recommended by out vet.
