My old bird table had lasted several years but was falling to bits, I had also previously repaired it a couple of times myself & thought it wouldn’t last much longer which is why I bought this, it took a long time for my wildlife to trust this enough to begin to use this, I guess due to the fact that it was new to them. After almost a week a solitary squirrel was sent to investigate the matter & successfully figured out how to get to the feeders that I attached to the underside of this table, I have since seen both birds & squirrels sitting inside happily nibbling away safe from the rain.I ordered this particular table due to the large open design so that my squirrels & larger birds like magpies could still use it, the downside to this is that also makes it suitable for an influx of pigeons for the same reason, I’ve found that if I try to exclude pigeons from my feeders this also excludes my squirrel friends in the process & I’m quite fond of them & can’t take the side eyes they give me when they can’t gain access to the nuttery! It looks more attractive than my old bird table & feels much sturdier built if a little shorter in stature, it was also incredibly easy to install with just the need for one tool, a screwdriver, I also found it easy to carry on my own as a 7 stone weakling I often worry about physically managing large items by myself particularly on the stairs which could be hazardous but managed to easily get this up an entire flight of stairs on my own & installed by myself with very little fuss. The customer service was outstanding as I had next day delivery at no extra cost, for a similar bird table from other companies could easily cost another £100 on top of this price, I can’t fault the price or service, the overall construction was a little shoddy as I had one metal staple exposed on the table centre, a few gouges in the wooden pole, the odd misaligned screw hole & beams that do not meet at the top but nothing that made it unusable & for the price I wasn’t expecting a luxury chalet to arrive & it’s certainly much better than anything I could have built by myself!

An attractive bird table and practical enough, with its mock-slate roof extending flush with the table below. The extended wooden battens at the base are a good idea, as there is a risk of the whole structure blowing over in the wind, they are also unsightly and a trip hazard. Our bird table was to sit on our gravel drive and our solution was to first dig out an inch or so of gravel, to reveal the soil and stone aggregate beneath. We did this in the shape of a cross (see photo), the plastic bottle-tops guided the shape and extent of digging, so the bird table base would fit within it. Using a small level, the gravel was moved to ensure that the base of the bird table was fairly flat and the upright was vertical (photo).Having selected four long bolts and drilled holes near the ends of the wooden battens, small holes were dug to align with the bolts, circled in the photo. The base was then re-levelled before pre-mix cement and sand was poured into the holes. A small bag of this was sourced locally for under £5, available specifically for infilling around posts. The bolts were placed within the battens and the structure lowered over the dug-out, before the bolts were pushed and hammered into the wet mortar. The final levelling was achieved using the hammer. The last stage was to move the embanked gravel back over the battens, hiding them, the bolts and the concrete beneath (see photo). For a few hours of work, we have a very solid bird table that keeps the seed dry and looks great (photo).
