I bought this tank as a birthday present for my partner and (no, I don’t feel guilty but) we both love it!! New to aquariums, we took all of the advice about growing the ‘family’ slowly (i.e. adding new types of fish a week at a time to let them settle in). I say ‘we’, it should be ‘she’ but it’s such a family entertainer in our household (better than tv).Looking back, I’m really glad we followed the advice out there… First step, we got some natural substrate so that our real plants could put some roots down and help with the start-up of the nitrogen cycle (If you’re newbies to aquariums like us, I really can’t stress the importance of reading up on this!!). Natural layers of substrate work out a bit more expensive at set-up but a lot easier for cleaning and longevity, and your fish will prefer real plants without a doubt!A week after setting up the plants, filling with water and adding the start up bacteria vials, we added our (her) first two Gouramis (Ganesha and Gurpreet). Then, another week on, we added The Illuminati (6x Cardinal Tetras – beautifully eye-catching in all lights!). The nitrate/ nitrite levels had a wobble at this stage and Gurpreet was our signal that something was up. After some good advice from Shirley Aquatics and a few daily water changes, we balanced it out as best we could. The ground level was now looking quite disheveled though and we’d also noticed a rogue snail… back to Shirley Aquatics who advised that the snail probably came as an egg on the plants but, no panic, this happens, and an assassin snail (now known as ‘The Assassin’) would ‘sort that out’ (and he did!). We also got two very pretty Corydoras (bottom feeders who she affectionately named after Kim and Aggie from ‘How clean is your house?’) and they do exactly what it says on the tin. We’ve left it there for now – plenty going on and lots to see (finding The Assassin is like a daily Where’s Wally!). Bottom line is this is a great starter tank. Maybe we’ll progress and want something bigger one day but, for now, we’re loving the size and manageability of this tank. Thoroughly recommend this starter set up!!The tank, heater and filter all work wonderfully and we can’t stress enough the importance of learning about the nitrogen cycle in an aquarium (you can read up on this as you go) and not adding too many little fishies at once. This (or any) tank won’t work without some research, human intervention and careful breed-balancing but it is a solid tank, nice size/ great shape and REALLY GOOD FUN!!!

I love this tank! I’ve had it set up for over a week and can’t stop looking at it, it’s so pretty! Firstly the filter is so quiet which is great as I have it set up in my bedroom. The blue light looks so nice in the evening and my fish seemed to like it as they get more active when its on. I’m not sure if this means they don’t like the white light or they’re just not used to bright lights. I really like the bowed front and curved glass corners it looks really modern and sleek also because everything is connected in the hood theres not loads of wires trailing about. The only negative thing about it is the feeding flap its difficult to open so when I do it makes a noise and scared my fishies so i’ve not been closing it down all the way so it doesn’t catch. I paid £135 for it but the listing on amazon seems to have gone up in price for some reason? but for what I paid i think its a great deal, it came well packed although a little dusty and has everything in it for setting up the tank which takes away from some of the confusion being a newbie to aquariums.Edit: after having this tank for 8 months there are a few things that bug me. 1) the light is definitely not strong enough to keep most plants healthy, I ended up ordering a cheap LED strip light and fixed it to the hood next to the originals (you can get an official replacement that has 1 extra light strip but its a bit pricey and it doesn’t make sense to get rid of 2 lights when they work fine) I was shocked at how much better the tank looked when I added an extra light it’s REALLY dull without it now. 2) Where the lid closes and locks together with the tank is an annoying dip where bladder snails like to get into and die. 3) this is by far the most annoying I REALLY wish they had added a lid to the filter like they have with the mini version because I’m always loosing my nerite snails in there, they love to climb in the top (I’m assuming they eat the algae build up) and then I’m always afraid I might squash something when replacing the filter cartridges. Other than that it is still a nice looking tank just a few design features I wish were different.

Great fish tank which comes with a heater and filter. Great size and has a good lid and lighting which you can control by 2x simple buttons (white or blue). My fish are loving this tank and fantastic value for money. One slight issue I’ve noticed is the filter supplied doesn’t seem very good, however I’ve bought another filter to supplement this one supplied and still think its worth 5x Star and would definitely recommend anyone to consider purchasing this tank.

I bought the 64l version after looking for our first aquarium for quite a while. I searched and searched but this had the best reviews, not only on Amazon but other places too. The 64l is the best size if you can get it, the smaller version will really limit you as to the number and type of fish you can get. That said, now I have had it for a couple of months, I have found that there are certain species of fish I can not get as they would outgrow this tank. The light set up is really good, bright and clear. Don’t get over excited by the blue light, it’s useful if you want to see the fish without disturbing your light on/off programme (I bought the interpret timer 14hrs off/10 hrs on which is a natural cycle), but it’s not that bright. The filter and heater work perfectly and are easy to install. I added a large bag of gravel which was enough and a mixture of plastics and live plants as well as a piece of root wood from aquatic centre. As all the advice States, take your time and don’t panic. After I added my water first day it looked great, then day two and three, white cloud…yuck…but this was gone in another 24hrs, just a sign of the filter bacteria kick starting. I added 3 platies which are hardy, after a few days nitrite levels spiked so I did not feed or add new fish for 2 weeks (they happily ate algae, plants and sap off root wood. They were fine (in fact in less that 5 weeks we now have 3 baby platies doing very well). I have also added a bristlenose catfish and a couple of snails (snails can stay still for days….yawn). Levels are great now, so really pleased with filter and set up.

This is the 2nd Interpet Insight Aquarium I’ve bought from Amazon and I love them! I have the 64 litre and now 40 litre and can’t recommend them enough! The curved front looks great and stops the issue of the glue coming off the glass when you clean them like other older square tanks I’ve had in the past. The blue light is great if you want a less intrusive tank for a living room during the evening and the main white light is very nice also. Yes, there is condensation in the lid when you open it, but there aren’t many on the market that will stop this 100%. The filter on both is absolutely fine for the size for tropical fish. Fill with black sand substrate instead of regular gravel for a really smart finish with bogwood and lots of nice plants – Perfect tanks for beginners especially as there is a sticker on the side marking where a 25% water change line is. If you have bamboo shrimp though – just watch as they will climb up into the filter itself to catch the flow of food in the water, so be careful when you change the cartridges! Filter is very easy to change and isn’t too noticeable noise-wise – Much quieter than an a biorb tank! Great tanks and great service from Amazon.

Purchased the 40L version during Black Friday deals last year. Just got the 64L version set up after Prime day…Lovely tank, my fish had starting having little ones and the population was getting out hand so was needed but even without being needed it’s a far nicer tank for similar money and similar priced stand. Fish have room to have a a proper scout around and seem to be happier about this. Just the right size to not dominate a room but also big enough to not look pokey. Not too noisey either. For people getting their first tank this is a doddle to set up, just get 5Kg or so of gravel a bunch of plastic plants and an ornament or two and you’re all set.

So far I’m loving this aquarium: It arrived the day after I ordered it, very well packaged: cardboard protection, inside a box, surrounded by cardboard spacers and air cushions in another cardboard box with large “fragile, glass aquarium” labels.Easy to set up, with clear instructions. Good, strong overflow filter, powerful heater and 3 LED light strips (1 blue for night viewing, and 2 white light for days).Arrived with a bottle of Tap Safe water treatment and filter starter too.Only set it up a few days ago, so I can’t really comment on how strong the light is or how it affects the plants and fish (don’t have fish yet), but so far it looks great and I’m really pleased with it.

This tank is beautiful. Comes with everything you need all in one box to get started. It’s really easy to set up and as this is my first tropical tank that was a big requirement for me. The set up book also contains loads of helpful info on keeping the aquarium at it’s best as well as tips about tropical fish keeping. I would suggest it’s always best to buy the stand that goes with this tank. It makes it look much better and is the safest way to show it off as the stand has a bowed front like the tank. Mine is still running it’s set up cycle but I can’t wait to start stocking it with fish. Highly recommend this product.
