Ancol is a family-owned and family-run business. Founded in 1971 by Ann and Colin Lane, Ancol was originally a manufacturer of superior quality leather collars and leads for dogs. The range developed to include items for cats and coats for dogs, and other pet accessories soon followed.

The Ancol Pet Cooling Coat is used to help prevent overheatingDogs have virtually no sweat glands. That means that they can only try to regulate body temperature through panting or by sweating through their paw pads. Dogs can only lose a small amount of excess body heat this way. How to keep an aging Golden Retriever cool in a heatwave? Daisy’s thick coat and inability NOT to race around with other dogs on her walks makes it a problem in a heatwave. We go out early, stay in the shade , take drinks plus collapsible bowl for her, but she is still getting too hot. This cool coat is brilliant. I soak it in cold water and put it on her before we go out and she stays so much more comfortable. She loves going out and meeting her friends (human and canine) and this coat is so light but stays damp enough to keep her cool for the whole walk. Very pleased to have found this product, and would recommend to other dog owners.

Loved how lightweight this is even when it is wet. It stays wet and cool for around 2-3 hours (depending on how hot it is). My dog didn’t mind wearing this and it definitely cooled him down quickly.I did have to alter it across the chest as I brought a medium more for the length on my mini dachshund.

Bought these for the recent hot spell for both my dogs – medium Springer and Springer / Setter Cross. They have been excellent- thoroughly recommend.They fit well, are nice and lightweight so do dry quickly if dog is outside but they are easy to get on and off to resoak. I noticed they keep the dogs cool even when starting to dry, their backs and chests were still cool to touch underneath.

I bought this item for my cavalier. I had been using another brand of cool coat for my dog but found that one tricky to put on and, despite being a medium, it was too small.This coat (medium) fitted much better and the material was lovely and soft. The Velcro fastening means you can adjust it slightly to fit your dogs size. I had to immerse the coat in cold water, removed the excess and put it on my dog. She doesn’t usually like wearing anything but she seemed perfectly relaxed wearing this coat. It kept the coldness for over 5 hours.It arrived several days earlier than estimated and I had just opted for the standard, free delivery.I would highly recommend this product and will be getting another for my other cavalier.

My bichon frise suffers from epilepsy and the heat triggers seizures. I have been struggling to keep him cool during some adverse hot weather. A friend recommended this and I am so grateful she did. I had already tried the cool mats but he just wouldn’t tolerate them so this is perfect as it stays with him wherever he goes.Its very lightweight too so seems more comfortable for him to wear all day. I just keep taking it off, running it under the cold tap, wringing it out and putting it back on him. It has made a vast difference and he is no longer desperately panting. I would definitely recommend this product and it was such a good price too. Worth every penny!

I spent a long time looking at all the cool coats – most seem to cool the dog’s back, but it’s underneath and the chest that are the important temperature regulating areas. This jacket at least has a wide flap that goes down over the chest, more than a lot of them. It’s a very light fabric too, which is in its favour. I chose ‘small’ for a mini schnauzer and it’s perfect. I still look for one with just straps on top and all the cooling underneath, but this is the best I’ve found. Happy with purchase, it’s soft and comfortable for my friend.

Ordered this yesterday for my welshie – arrived today ( even though del date 2-3days & bear in mind he HATES coats! like won’t even walk with one on!)It’s 32degrees today – hosed him with cold water soaked vest in ice water out of fridge – put it on him -he’s SOOOOOO happy in it as it’s so light he doesn’t know he’s wearing it.I shop on Amazon 4-7 days a week and can honestly say one if my best buys ever and amazing delivery speedTHANK YOU !!!! Pop it into the fridge wet, then it’s ready to use when the weather gets hot. I purchased the XL for my big lab and it fits him perfectly, he wags his tail when he sees it coming out of the fridge and eagerly puts his head through the hole for me.It’s v lightweight, I gently poor a jug of water over him when he has it on to keep him continuously cool. Really good buy at a reasonable price
