Great for keeping the food clean and fresh and the birds healthy. You cann unclip top and bottom for ease of cleaning. Ideal.
David Cheshire –
Sometimes gets battered by squabbling birds all trying to feed at once. Nice peoduct
Bickmore rosemary –
Easy to fill. I’ve noticed larger birds cannot swing on it and empty it. Excellent value and looks good
debbie garrish –

This Gardman model A01172 is a very SMALL feeder which holds only 250g of seed. There is a LARGE Gardman model A01513 which holds around 625g of seed also available on Amazon, but, Check the Description carefully because some adverts are misleading!!. As previous buyers have commented here, there are serious issues with this Small model which make it hardly Fit for Purpose. I have had considerable experience using the Larger model as have many friends who have also purchased. Even with the larger model I have found two particular issues and consequently made simple modifications to suit. These involve (1) controlling the habit of the Perches which have a habit of rising up to high, by fastening them down by tieing across with that thin green bendy garden wire beneath and in pairs. Works a treat! (2) Increasing the size of the Seed-Ports to suit by enlarging with a thin sharp knife blade – fairly easy but take care! Now to your Seed-Blend and this is important. Generally, AVOID WHEAT. Few birds other than pigeon/dove/pheasant types eat it, but worse, it attracts Rodents! Further, wheat is heavy and you are paying for something that goes to waste. Furthermore, if it is possible to hang your feeders beneath a simple shelter, then the seed stays dryer and the birds appreciate the covered environment as well- just give them time !! Hanging-feeders alre good also because they decrease the disease risk, but rememeber it is hugely important to regularly sterilise your feeders regularly. What was is killed the Greenfinches off – I wonder? Good Birding. Rod. THANK-YOU Amazon for providing this extremely useful facility !!

Mr. Robert I. Beck –
Great for sunflower seeds
Pauline Harkett –
This is quality and does not spill the seed everywhere
Mr J B Sharp –
Firstly a tip for refilling this or any other similar feeder – when needing to refill, leave the feeder hanging in place and unscrew the body from the lid, leaving the lid hanging in situ – refill the body and re-attach the body to the hanging lid….. this will cause no more spillage than any other feeder whilst refilling….I have been feeding the birds in our garden for over ten years now and during that time we have seen our colony of sparrows increase from about 25/30 birds to much more than 100 – the sparrows in particular love this feeder and I have to refill it at least twice a day…. Although it is easier for the birds to flip the seeds about, the sparrows do make a mess whatever feeder they use and do not seem to make more mess from this one….I also have the larger size of this feeder but have had to remove the perches from the base because the pigeons and doves could perch on them, crowding out the sparrows and other small birds… but removing the perches from the big one means that the sparrows and small birds can feed from it without being bullied by the pigeons and doves – although as mentioned earlier they by far prefer this smaller feeder – maybe because it still has the perches on it ;-)Anyway I cannot recommend this feeder highly enough :-)!
