Wild Bird Dome Cage Seed Feeder
- Wild Bird Cage Seed Feeder is designed to deter Squirrels and also larger birds such as Pigeons and Doves from eating Seeds. Can also be used for feeding Sunflower Hearts.

The gaps between the bars are approximately 36mm (W) x 50mm (H) on the base ring and on the second ring the dimensions of the gaps between the bars is 36mm (W) x 93mm (H).
Additional ways to deter Squirrels from feeding from your wild bird feeders are:
Ensure that the Squirrel cannot access the feeder by jumping on to it from nearby trees or climbing up a feeding station etc.
That as an extra deterrent to the Squirrels getting onto a feeder a tree hook is used as this will increase the distance between the feeder and the hanging point. It may be worth covering the tree hook in Vaseline as a preventive measure.
Provide a Squirrel Feeder for the Squirrels as this may encourage them to feed from their own specific feeder and leave the wild bird feeder alone.
Also, the RSPB suggest mixing in with bird seed chilli powder as Squirrels do not like the taste of this product while bird do not mind it.
Please note young squirrels may be able to fit between the bars until they mature into adult squirrels, so it may be worth following the advice above.

We bought this as we had a problem with a very persistent squirrel who kept destroying our seed feeders. We have had this for 3 months now and although, at first, the squirrel tried everything to get to the seed in this feeder (hanging on it, trying to get in through the top, swinging it to try to dislodge the seed) it has proved very squirrel proof and the squirrel now contents itself with sitting on the ground below and catching what is dropped by the birds. It sometimes brings a friend but neither have managed to crack this feeder!

Keep the squirrels and the pigeons away. Just don’t put near plant pots that the pigeons can stand on them as they are clever and get their heads in. Once in the right place this works well allowing the smaller birds to feed. Lid is a flip lid that is held down well but easy to open. Easy to refill.

Unfortunately I got this feeder with meal worms in mind for which it isn’t designed and the starlings had no trouble devouring all the worms in a few minutes to the exclusion of the intended recipients, it’s probably good for seed but not for starlings. My mistake.
