Why choose Thrive?

Does your cat food contain wheat?Poor ingredients in some pet foods have caused many cats to develop allergies to cereals and gluten. For these reasons, all Thrive cat food – including our dry food – is free from cereals and grains. Where necessary, we’ll use small quantities of simple carbohydrates like potato and sweet potato that are a bit easier to digest and hypoallergenic too. |
What’s different about Thrive pet food?At Thrive we believe that you and your pet are what you eat. So we’ve used our 30+ years of experience of making premium quality food for humans to create a revolutionary ‘real’ pet food with simple, easily recognisable ingredients. We insist on using human-grade cuts of meat or fish, no substitutes and absolutely no ‘animal derivatives’. Our food is completely pure and free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives, added sugars, wheat, gluten, dairy, soya and GM ingredients (you could say it’s what we leave out that makes us different). We also use innovative manufacturing processes from the human food industry to create ground breaking products, like our new PremiumPlus Chicken dry food, which contains 90% meat – the highest in the world – or our freeze-dried treats which are natural, healthy and bursting with flavour. Open a tin or tube of Thrive and you’ll see exactly what you are feeding your pet: pure goodness, no nonsense. |
What safeguards do we follow regarding animal welfare? We care about every single ingredient that goes into Thrive products, that’s why we have such short ingredient lists! As such, we insist on the highest welfare standards in respect of the care of all livestock. Our products are either manufactured in compliance with current UK and EU animal welfare legislation, or where appropriate within the parameters of internationally recognised animal welfare organisations such as Red Tractor and Friend of the Sea. Our fish products are derived from sustainable sources. |
Snowy Dove –
Cats love this food. Obviously can’t comment on the taste myself but cats seem happy enough with it and they are very fussy eaters. Quite small bag for the price but has quality ingredients in.

Unfortunately my cat is one of those who WILL eat anything but CAN only eat a very limited number of foods without having severe tummy trouble. Along with Ava or Royal Canin Digest Sensitive wet food he used to get Applaws dry food, but then developed an intolerance to it so I moved him to Aatu Salmon and Herring. Until recently it was regularly on offer at around the same price per KG as Thrive, but in the last couple of years it rarely drops below almost twice that. So when I saw this with almost as high a fish content (70% vs 85%) and the majority of the rest potato, same as Aatu, I thought it was worth a try.I introduced it very slowly, for the first few days just giving him a few of the new kibbles as ‘treats’ now and then, then mixing it with his usual Aatu, a week each of 25% Thrive and then a week of 50% Thrive. He’s now been on 75% Thrive, 25% Aatu for several weeks with no issues while I finish the bag of Aatu before moving him onto 100% Thrive. So if you have a cat with sensitive digestion and are looking a high quality food at a reasonable price, I can definitely recommend this. I’ll be buying this instead of Aatu from now on, and as an added bonus I now have two dry foods I know he can eat if one should become unavailable for any reason, which was always a worry before. As a few others have noticed there is quite a strong smell off the Salmon and Herring Thrive which is noticeable when I go into my cat’s room in the morning after the door being closed all night, but considering the savings I can live with that!

This food has been such a game changer for my two cats. I have an older girl who would get frequents bladder stones and utis due to stress and being slightly over weight. Non of the 60-70 pounds foods helped and if anything seem to make it worse. So I tired this a few months ago and I will not give my girls any other brand ever again. Super high meat content, no unnecessary rubbish and they are always satisfied after. Their coats are also soooo soft and shiny and my older girl hasn’t had a single health issue since the change.

I have a much loved 13 year old little cat who sadly was diagnosed with a cancerous mass in her stomach a couple of weeks ago. She had been having a well known “One” food, the sensitive variety, but went off this in the weeks before and since her diagnosis. She was losing weight fast and would only eat a popular but very expensive brand of wet food that is only complementary and not complete. As she is now in the palliative care stage of her life, I really wanted to find her some dry food to have alongside this to give her the needed vitamins and minerals to keep her as healthy for as long as possible without upsetting her poorly tummy more than it already is. I was attracted to Thrive Salmon as it has a high percentage of fish (the only thing she wants to eat) and simple ingredients which I hoped would be gentle on her stomach. Thankfully she loves it and is eating well, looks healthier, has less dandruff and more energy and touch wood hasn’t been sick on it either like she would be on her old food. It has also improved her trips to the litter tray considerably. It is expensive for a dry food but worth it to keep her feeling better and much more affordable and better for her than just having the tins alone of complementary food from the other brand. I would really recommend this food to other owners with a poorly cat, or any cat really, and wish I had found it sooner. Thank you Thrive for making a food to keep my little lady feeling better for longer

It’s a bit costly but it worth the price!

Good value for money, cats loved it.

There are few dry food options on the market targeted at a cats natural obligate carnivore status, this is one of those few (minus some necessary binding agents). In our house of 5 cats we offer these as treats instead of another well known brand and our kitties go wild for them!

I have 3 cats, 2 moggies and a maine coon, all fussy about their food. They will happily eat a wet or dry food for weeks, and never want it again. This though is our staple, and my cats will ignore wet food next to the kibble bowl if thrive is in there -any other brand and they will finish the wet catfood first. Now the kittens are past 6 months this will be their main food, it’s that good.

As soon as I opened the bag, she ran to me as if she could smell treats, so I guess she approved it. The one small issue was that Amazon delivered it without any extra packaging. It was raining, and the driver placed it directly on the wet floor.
Mrs J Myerscough –
It’s to be used by animal rescue for which they are very grateful.
